HOUSE FIRE 2/04/2006

Haleyville Fire/Rescue responded to this house fire on 15th ave on Saturday February 4th, 2006. Upon arrival firefighters were faced with heavy fire and smoke conditions and set up a defensive attack. The house and contents sustained heavy damage. Responding Apparatus included Pumpers 1,2, Ladder 1, Tanker 6 and Rescue 1.

MVA 2/22/2006

On Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at7:15 AM Haleyville Fire/Rescue responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 13S & HWY 129. The driver of a Ford Focus was trapped in his vehicle for a short time after striking the rear end of a flat bed trailer. The driver was freed from his car and was transported to Lakeland Community Hospital where he was treated and later transferred to Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville, TN with a shattered Pelvis. Responding units included Pumper 3, Rescue 1, Haleyville Police Department and Regional Paramedical Services Medic 822, 823 and 817.

PLANE CRASH 5/20/2006

On May 20th, 2006 around 6:45 a.m. an experimental aircraft crashed outside the fence at the northeast end of Posey Field. The pilot sustained moderate but non life threatening injuries and was transported from the accident site to a landing zone at the airport. The patient was then air lifted by Air-Evac lifeteam to Huntsville Hospital. Responding units and agencies included: Haleyville Pumpers 1,2,3, Rescue 1, Bear Creek Fire, Pebble Fire, Regional Paramedical Services Medic 213 and Supervisor, Haleyville Police and Air Evac 16 from Muscle Shoals. Bear Creek and Pebble Fire Departments were dispatched under Haleyville Fire Departments pre-planned Airport response protocol.

STRUCTURE FIRE 7/06/2006

On July 6th, 2006 around 11:00 p.m. Haleyville Fire responded to a fully invloved mobile home fire on Marion County Hwy 196 also known as "Dean Scott Road". The mobile home and contents were a total loss. Responding apparatus and agencies include: Pumper 2, Rescue 1, Tanker 6, Regional Paramedical Services Medic 213, Haleyville Police and Alabama Power.

MVA 8/07/2006

On August 7th, 2006 around 6:45 a.m. Haleyville Fire/Rescue responded to a 2 vehicle mva with injuries and entrapment. The driver of the car crossed the center line and struck the trailer of an 18 wheeler. The driver was pinned in the vehicle and suffered multiple fractures and lacerations. It took firefighters approximately 30 minutes to extricate the driver using the "jaws of life". Once extricated from the vehicle the driver was placed into an ambulance and then transported to Huntsville Hospital by Air-Evac Lifeteam of Muscle Shoals. Responding agencies and apparatus included: Haleyville Pumper 3, Rescue 1, Haleyville Police, Regional Paramedics Medic 214 and Air-Evac 16.

STRUCTURE FIRE 8/29/2006

Haleyville Fire/Rescue and Pebble Fire/Rescue responded to this fully involved structure fire next to Sparks Laundrymat on Hwy 195 on Tuesday morning August 29th, 2006 at 5:58 a.m. Upon arrival firefighters set up a defensive attack with the primary goal being exposure protection. Multiple hand lines were used and supplied by a 700 ft 5" supply line to Ladder 1 from a hydrant at 13th ave & Hwy 195 and a 200 ft 5" supply line to Pumper 2 from a hydrant at 14th ave and 20th st. Once the fire was brought under control, a bulldozer from the street department was brought in to level the house. The house has been unoccupied since a previous fire approximately 4 years ago. Firefighters returned to service just before 10:00 a.m. Responding Units and Apparatus include: Haleyville Pumpers 1,2, Ladder 1, Rescues 1 & 2, Pebble Rescue 6, Haleyville Police Department and Haleyville Street Department.
